The cost of counselling
Each person who comes to the Foundation for counselling is expected to contribute
towards the costs of the service according to ability to pay. No one is excluded
from counselling because they cannot afford the full cost of counselling.
Making an appointment
The Foundation operates an appointments system only. Appointments are made by
telephoning the counselling centre -
Chelmsford (01245) 284890. A receptionist will answer calls between 10am and
4pm on weekdays. At other times messages can be left on an answerphone and will
be dealt with as soon as possible.
Times of appointments
The Foundation is open for counselling between 8am and 9pm on weekdays and
between 9am and 1pm on Saturdays. A non-refundable registration fee
is required at the time of booking
The assessment interview
This is a very important meeting as it provides the opportunity for the client to talk
about what has brought them to counselling. It takes up to 90 minutes and the assessment fee
is decided between the assessor and the client at the interview.
If we are able to offer counselling the client will be placed on a waiting list and
will then be contacted as soon as possible by a counsellor.
The waiting list
Our services are always in demand and owing to pressure on resources there may be a
waiting list for both assessment interviews and subsequent counselling sessions.
Waiting times vary and every attempt is made to accommodate those who seek help as
quickly as possible, usually within weeks. There is a heavier demand for evenings and
weekends.
Counselling agreements
Once a fee has been agreed with the counsellor this will be charged for all sessions
offered until the work is concluded or for the first 40 sessions, whichever is the
sooner. We normally offer up to 40 sessions per year making allowance for breaks at
the main holiday times Counselling may extend for a longer period if required. The
fee is reviewed annually.
