Fees and Appointments

The cost of counselling

CCF is a charitable company and we receive no grants or financial support from Government or NHS Trusts.  We provide a professional, affordable service to those in need irrespective of income.  Each person who comes to CCF for counselling is expected to contribute towards the cost of the service according to ability to pay.

A £15 administration fee is payable by direct debit or credit card at the time of booking and is non-refundable.

Other than the administration fee, all fees are negotiable taking into consideration your level of income.  The assessment fee can be negotiated with the counsellor who carries out your assessment and the fee for ongoing counselling will be discussed and agreed at your first session.

Making an appointment

CCF operates an appointment system only.  Appointments are made by telephoning the counselling centre – Chelmsford (01245) 284890.  A receptionist will answer calls between 10am and 4pm on weekdays.  At other times messages can be left on an answerphone and will be dealt with as soon as possible.

Times of appointments

CCF is open for counselling between 8am and 9pm from Monday to Friday.

The assessment interview

This initial meeting is important as it provides an opportunity for the client to talk about the problems and reason for coming to counselling.  This appointment last for 60 minutes. If there is mutual agreement between CCF and the client to proceed with counselling, this will be processed and a counsellor will make contact as soon as possible.

Waiting times

Our services are in regular demand and owing to pressure on resources there may sometimes be a waiting list for ongoing counselling sessions.   We work hard to keep waiting times to a minimum and every attempt is made to accommodate those who seek help as quickly as possible, usually within weeks.  As there is a heavier demand for evenings waiting times for appointments may be longer.

Counselling agreements

Appointments for ongoing counselling will be arranged for the same day and time each week and last for 50 minutes.  Once a day, time and fee has been agreed with your counsellor, you will be charged for all sessions offered. You will not be charged if your counsellor is unavailable for any reason.

The fee is reviewed annually or if your financial circumstances change.
