Code of Ethics
All counsellors at the Foundation work to the British Association for Counselling and
Psychotherapy's Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy regarding the confidential nature of the counselling process and other matters
of ethics and practice. Copies of the Ethical Framework are available on request.
Confidentiality
All personal information disclosed to a counsellor is confidential to the
Foundation. No information will be disclosed to a third party without prior
permission from the individual concerned except in exceptional cases of legal
obligation.
We hold limited factual information about clients on computer to assist
in our administration and statutory obligations. This does not compromise the
confidentiality of any individual. All records whether in paper or electronic form
are kept in secure and private storage.
Professionalism
All counsellors will either have undertaken thorough initial training extending to a
minimum of three years or will be in the advanced stages of this training. They are
committed to continued in-service training and supervision. The training involves
personal therapy and is validated by the
Westminster Pastoral
Foundation and the
British
Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Selection of counsellors is the responsibility of a team of in-house and external
professional workers.
