Training
Chelmsford Counselling Foundation is a psychodynamic counselling agency. The Foundation is long established and has a high reputation in Essex and beyond for its counselling work and in the training of counsellors. Our training programme has been in operation since the inception of the Foundation and is an integral part of our work, standing equal with counselling in our constitution.
Psychodynamic counselling stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experience in shaping current behaviour. This training teaches you the skills needed to build an accepting and trusting relationship, encouraging clients to talk about their childhood relationships with parents and other significant people as well as present ones. It also uses similar techniques to psychotherapy, including free association, and interpretation of transference, where feelings experienced in previous significant relationships are projected onto the therapist. An important aspect of the training is increasing self-awareness so you will be required to reflect on your own experiences and relationships, in seminars, experiential groups and personal therapy.
If you are interested in our Training Courses, application forms are available below under the course headings. Alternatively you can email Lucy Ansell, Training Co-Ordinator at lucya@chelmsfordcounselling.org.uk

Counselling
A professional, affordable counselling service for adults in Essex, Hertfordshire and East London.
How can we help?
Whether you’re struggling with depression, anxiety or just trying to find your way through life’s many challenges, we can help you to learn from the past, feel more empowered in the present and look forward to a brighter future.
We offer traditional ‘talking therapy’ to:
-
Individuals – on a 1-1 basis. This can be ‘in person’ at our Chelmsford centre or remote by telephone or videocall.
-
Couples – Relationship counselling is not just for couples in an intimate relationship; it can also be very helpful in other types of relationship, such as with a parent or sibling. Our relationship counsellors work ‘in person’ at our Chelmsford centre or remote by videocall. Both partners must be willing to come for counselling together. Sessions are only held with both partners present.
We work with people from many different backgrounds. Our professional, highly trained counsellors are all members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and are committed to the highest professional standards. We’re sure that you will find our counsellors empathic, understanding and compassionate. We will not judge you or tell you what to do but we will help you to make sense of your feelings and help you to work out what’s best for you and those around you.
Contact us to arrange an Initial Consultation and take your first steps towards a brighter future.
